We have been providing HR consulting and training services since 1995. We primarily work with small to medium sized businesses in Michigan and across the country. All of our team members are certified professionals in Human Resource Management; seasoned veterans with years of real-world HR experience in both large and small employment settings. Jodi Schafer
Principal
Jodi Schafer is a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR, SHRM-SCP) and the owner of Human Resource Management Services. Jodi has a Bachelor’s degree in psychology and education from Kalamazoo College and over 20 years of experience in Human Resource management. She was recognized as one of the ’10 Over the Next Ten’ in the next generation of business leaders by the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce and accepted the MSAE Association Choice award on behalf of HRM for the consulting services category. Jodi sits on several statewide committees focused on Human Resource policy and leadership development. She is a regular contributor to various industry publications and author of a ready-to-use HR system for small employers. Jodi conducts speaking engagements and training seminars on all aspects of human resources including employee relations, leadership skills, performance development, onboarding, recruitment, and retention.
Andie Creamer
Consultant
Prior to joining HRM Services in 2007, Andie Creamer spent more than 15 years in private sector management with much of it in human resources. She therefore has a unique understanding of the human resource challenges small to medium-sized companies face on a day-to-day basis. Her areas of focus are employee relations, FMLA implementation and administration, policy and handbook development, compliance, unemployment claims and personnel file management. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Michigan State University, School of Social Work, and received her Certified Human Resource Specialist (CHRS) certification from MSU, School of Labor and Industrial Relations.
Tori Richards
Consultant
Tori Richards had the pleasure of joining the team at HRM Services in 2015. Her knowledge varies from the management of day-to-day operations such as employee relations, the development of policies, procedures, and recruitment, to big picture strategic planning such as benefits structure, succession planning, developing workplace culture, and more. Tori has her undergraduate degree from Michigan State University in Human Resources Management; a graduate degree from Central Michigan University in Human Resources Administration; and she received the Certified Professional in Human Resources Management (SHRM-CP) from the Society for Human Resources Management.
Marcia Cornell
Consultant
Marcia Cornell is a Certified Human Resources Specialist (CHRS) with a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management from Spring Arbor University. With over 25 years as a top human resources executive in a government setting, Marcia holds extensive experience in all things Human Resources. She has in-depth experience in project management, budgeting and compensation program management, strategic planning, supervision and leadership, recruitment and retention, personnel training, problem solving, developing and administering policies and procedures.
Ann Hall
Consultant
Ann Hall has been a member of HRM since 2020, bringing with her a diverse management background with more than 30 years of senior leadership experience in educational, non-profit and financial organizations. With experience in all aspects of human resource administration, her current areas of focus include consultation on policy and process, leadership development, employee training, conflict resolution, mediation, and workplace investigation. Ann has a Master’s degree in Human Resource Administration from Central Michigan University and has earned certifications in general civil mediation and civil rights investigation. Ann is also a Certified DiSC Facilitator.
Alissa Parks
Consultant
Alissa joined HRM Services in 2021 with over 20 years of senior leadership experience within the government and non-profit sector, where she led a variety of statewide initiatives, programs, operations, and teams. She is a skilled facilitator, trainer, and coach with expertise in strategic planning and group dynamics, organizational culture, and team building. Alissa also has in-depth experience in compensation plan design and analysis, policy and workflow development, and employee engagement and performance development. Alissa is a Certified Human Resources Specialist (SHRM-SCP) with a Master’s in Public Policy and Administration from Michigan State University (Go Green!). She is also certified in Cognitive Coaching.
Caryn Bedford
Consultant
Caryn Bedford is certified as a Senior Human Resources Professional (SPHR) and has focused her career in the areas of talent development, talent acquisition, and employee engagement. She works with organizations to create a culture where employees will thrive. Caryn has over 10 years of experience as a leadership coach for executives, mid-level managers and front-line supervisors. She obtained her Master’s degree in University Administration with an emphasis in Career Development from Michigan State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Eastern Michigan University. She has also earned a certificate in Leadership from the University of Michigan, is a Certified Professional Coach (CPC) in Energy Leadership, and a Certified DiSC & 5 Behaviors Facilitator.
Gin Gibson
Consultant
Virginia “Gin” Gibson has over 20 years of benefits consulting experience focusing on creating benefits packages that align with an organization’s vision and values. Gin’s area of expertise is in welfare benefits including health, dental, vision, and disability coverage. She is also passionate about helping employers and employees understand their benefits. Gin has in-depth knowledge of federal and state regulations as it pertains to employee benefits and has her Master’s in Healthcare Administration from the Medical University of South Carolina. She is a Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) and is a licensed Resident Counselor for Accident and Health through the State of Michigan.
